Originally from Belize, Steve emigrated to the US in 1980 where he attended Bethany Nazarene College (Now Southern Nazarene University). He and Pat, also from Belize, were married in 1983 and settled down in Toronto where they began a family: Nicole, Shauna, and Dylan. Steve earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies at Canadian Nazarene University College (Now Ambrose University) and a Master of Arts in Theology at Nazarene Theological College in Manchester, England. He served as Associate Pastor at Rosewood Church of the Nazarene in Toronto (1992-2000). In 2000, he along with a dedicated and gifted group formed the core team to plant Gateway Community Church of the Nazarene in Whitby, Ontario (2000-2013). Steve transitioned from Founding/Lead Pastor of Gateway, to serve as the Assistant District Superintendent for the Canada Central and Canada Quebec Districts, as well as the Church Development Director for Canada Central District (2013-2017). He was appointed as District Superintendent for the Canada Central District, and began that role January 1st 2018
